Yikes, Here Comes the Holiday Break.
The lights, the trees, the smell of cookies hot from the oven! But let’s be real. As much as you might treasure holiday traditions, if you are caring for young school-age children, having them home for two weeks is going to have its moments. Here are a few resources that might give you a break:
A YouTube channel with lively stories that follow books that aims to help a child’s reading skills. Lots of new and traditional Christmas stories. Some multicultural and bilingual stories, too.
Calm, time-for-bed stories that come with lots of teachable moments about family relationships, friendships and growing up. They even offer mindful meditations for winding down.
Here you’ll find the classics, from Goodnight Moon to Where the Wild Things Are.
For teens and music lovers, Multnomah Public Library has a terrific collection with dozens of free albums by Oregon musicians searchable by genre from hip hop to jazz.
